Full body relaxing massage

A full-body massage is just a way of saying that the therapist will massage your whole body during a therapeutic massage. This includes your back, neck, shoulders, arms, legs, feet and hands (and for men, the pectoral muscles). Most massages at spas and clinics will be full-body massages.

There are two exceptions - one is if it's an express service, just 30 minutes instead of the usual 50 minutes or an hour. In that case the massage therapist might concentrate on one area, usually back, neck and shoulders, so you get more benefit.

The other is when you ask the therapist to concentrate on a specific area during the full-length massage. They take more time on that area, and usually skip or go very lightly over other areas.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle.

Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.

 Massage

Thai massage aligns the energies of the body using gentle pressure on specific points. Thai massage also includes compressions and stretches.

The therapist moves and stretches you into a sequence of postures. It's like getting the benefits of yoga without doing any of the work. Thai massage is more energising than other forms of massage. It is also reduces stress and improves flexibility and range of motion.

Chinese Massage

Chinese Massage is a medical method using the arms, hands, fingers, elbows and knees as tools for treating diseases and illnesses. Chinese Massage is also used to protect health and build up body immunity, so that disease can be stopped in its early stages, acting as a preventative medical measure, without any unpleasant side effects. Chinese Massage can sometimes be mistaken for acupressure.

Chinese Massage uses techniques and manipulations to stimulate acupuncture points or other parts of the body surface so as to correct physiological imbalances of the body and achieve curative effects. The effect of Chinese Massage is to disperse and smooth obstructions of energy whilst checking and restraining hyperfunction. Chinese Massage is an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which also encompasses acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition and exercise, all aimed at treating the whole body, mind and spirit.

Swedish Massage

Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. If you've never had massage before, this is a good one to try first.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork that uses localised finger pressure in a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians.

Each point is held for two to eight seconds to improve the flow of energy and help the body regain balance.

People are normally pleasantly surprised when they try shiatsu for the first time. It is relaxing yet the pressure is firm, and there is usually no soreness afterwards.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one.  It's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus isn't on relaxation but rather on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance.

A combination of techniques is used. The strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage. Facilitated stretching is a common technique. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. Trigger Point Therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Gentle techniques addressing the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum that offers effective relief for headaches, TMJD, back and neck pain.

Prenatal Massage

An ideal therapeutic choice for prenatal care, each massage differs based on your individual needs and requests.
